In order to address the school bus driver shortage in NYS, our client, the NY School Bus Contractors Association, felt that third party testing for commercial driver license’s (CDL) would have the greatest impact in NYS. Together, we worked with the Governor’s office and DMV to successfully launch the “CDL Third Party Skills Testing Pilot Program” (2022). Currently, the program allows entities to conduct CDL skills tests when such assessments are required for applicants to obtain a class A, B, or C license, pursuant to New York Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL).
